In July, my clever clogs Boyfriend graduated with a first! So on the day of his graduation I hopped on a train from London and traveled up to Leicester to celebrate with him. After the ceremony and some drinks at the pub, Nathan, his parents and I went to cheap out Taps.
You’d be forgiven if you had been/lived in Leicester and had never seen it…it looks unremarkable from the outside and the small sign gives no recollection to the wonders that are hidden inside. Apparently situated in one of Leicester oldest building, it oooozes culture and sophistication, I’m a hipster kinda of way. One of its main features is that you get to pour your own pints at the table, a novelty for most…but as a bar tender I was like nooooo don’t make me pour everyone’s beers!
We called ahead to book a table and let them know of my gluten-free-ness, and they were all to happy to oblige, buying gluten free bread and adapting the menu for me. The menu looked amazing, everything sounded delcious, I think they change the menu regularly, which is great, everytime you go is like a new experience.
For main I ordered a delicious steak and for desert this fab sundae. The pictures are not the best because it’s quite dark down there….
I’d recommend to every one, gluten free or not, to go. It was really really good! Nice polite staff, fabulous atmosphere and incredible food.
Everyone enjoying their meal in the cellar….
